That's fancy girl.

I had a job interview today that went really well. I hope I get the job. But more importantly, I went to CVS on my way home to get some make up, lotion, and felt stickers. (the usual) They didn't have anyone working the check out so everyone was forced to use the self check out lane. Self check out lanes blow. You stand in front of the computer and this lady welcomes you to CVS - duh, I've been here for hours and I'm finally ready to leave. She commands you to scan your item. After waving it in front of the laser beam 30 times before it registers, she forces you to 'put your item into the plastic bag'. (what if don't want to use plastic bags - what then?) So, to not make a scene, I 'put my item into the plastic bag'. Once you 'put your item into the plastic bag', the scale attached to where the bags are kept acknowledges the change in the weight of the bag. Which may have seemed like a genius idea to the geniuses who came up with this genius machine, except for it doesn't consider items that weigh less than 17 pounds because they don't weigh enough to effect the scale. For example, I bought some eye shadow and 'put my item into the plastic bag'. Then the lady said 'put your item into the plastic bag'. And I said 'I did put my item into the plastic bag'. This went on for about 12 minutes until I figured out how to get past this minor dilemma and started 'slamming my items into the plastic bag.' Worst CVS ever.
Then this lovely black woman who worked at the front desk at this business building I happened to walk into complimented me on the scarves I was wearing. She said 'That's fancy girl'. And I said 'Well, I'm pretty fancy'.
And I'm pretty sure I said the word 'gianormous' during my interview.

HIH . WOF . BWI . OMG
How's it Hangin' is a high-skill level game in which 2 teams throw golf balls tied to a rope at a PVC ladder. Whoot whoot.

Go Guido or Go Home
Saturday was our friend Adam's Jersey Shore themed birthday party. We all dressed up and went over to his house to beat up the beat. It was really ridiculous. I think I looked more like Amy Winehouse than Snookie. Derek took these photos on his phone. Yes, that's him taking his own photo in the mirror. I did his hair - pretty hot, right. I think I got some more photos on my camera but I haven't uploaded them yet.

So warm I almost had a BBQ

The sun was out this morning when I woke up, so I thought I might actually leave the house today and take a walk. It was +40 degrees outside and with all of my layers of clothing it was warm. Half way through the walk I had to take my gloves off - yeah, pretty sweet.
I went down the street toward O'Donnell Square where I discovered the local Psychic along with some of the bars and restaurants. I heard Nacho Mamas serves margaritas in old hub caps. Then I went through the marina where I saw a helicopter land on one of the piers. I also found the local gym and a boat named Snafu. The marina is pretty - some of the ice on the water is starting to break apart.

Deep Fried

Hampden is a fun neighborhood - it has the shops of Abbot Kinney and the hipsters of Silverlake.

Electric Avenue

Today we slept in late, then I slept on the couch some more, then we skipped over to Bank street and hung out with some friends and their new puppy. He's so freaking cute. They just got it right before Christmas. His name is Boomer and he's a Dorkie (a Dachshund and a Yorkie mix) - precious.
This Week in BCity

On Friday morning we woke up and it had snowed overnight. It was pretty to look at but I don't really like being outside ever. I keep thinking how weird it is that we live here now. I feel like I need to tell everyone I see on the street and on the bus that I'm new here and point out that there's a small amount of snow that's on the ground.
Today Derek convinced me to walk around town so we can run some errands. He kept trying to tell me how 'nice' it was outside since it was sunny - but just because it's sunny doesn't mean that it's not cold and I kept reminding him that 'nice' is relative. So Derek decided to be 'nice' and buy be some long johns. I haven't tried them on yet but I'm sure they're going to be magical.
We've been having a good time getting settled and checking out our new neighborhood. We're in a cool location close to a lot of bars and restaurants and the grocery store and the bus routes. Last night we went out to dinner with some friends and ordered the Texas-sized margaritas from the Austin Bar a few blocks away.
I'm looking forward to the next couple weeks and for the weather to warm up a bit or at least for the wind to stop. I'll take some more photo photo of our place with furniture in it and try to post them tomorrow.
The photos above are of me pretending to paint, me actually painting, Derek eating dinner on the floor, and of our living room now that it's all painted.
NYE

We spent NYE with our friends at Tim's house on the beach. We all had a great time drinking and eating and making lots of noise with those blowy things. It was really fun!
And I'd like to give a special thanks to Teresa for taking 300 pictures that night. It was really hard to edit them all but I think I got all the good ones.
Last Week in CA

So, it's been a while since the last post on the bloggersons. Last week in LA was super. I ate a ton of food (literally) and laid on the couch the whole time - except for this one time when Martine forced me to leave the couch and walk down to the beach. It was nice and I'm pretty sure that they don't have any beaches on the East Coast so it was nice to say goodbye.
Man, I'm really going to miss Maos - and the beach and my family and that parking lot.
