Memorial Rain

It rained this weekend. It usually doesn't rain so much around here, especially in May. It's not that often that it goes from a sunny 95 degrees down to a rainy, icy, thundery 50 degrees in less than a week. But it did.
We had friends visiting from Florida over the long weekend. A couple of them had never been to Los Angeles before. We had a really good time. We went to a comedy show, had dinner in Hollywood, went on a hike in Malibu, drank a lot, saw a boxing match, ate late-night French Toast, hung out with my family, drank a lot, woke up to mariachi music, drank German beer, ate German pretzels and wandered around the city. Good times. Here are some photos to prove it...

LEED AP

Today I passed the LEED exam! I was really nervous and definitely thought I was going to fail, but somehow I pulled it off. I'm so happy it's over and I can move on to the next thing. I just want to thank my family and friends who believed in me. I owe it all to you.
It's so hot in my apartment. Man...
I hope it stays nice for Memorial Day next weekend.

Construction = Fun

Today I spent most of the day on construction sites. I have 3 projects under construction right now. The best part is when you start to see your design and all your hard work come together. Here is the backyard of a residence in Pasadena I've been working on. I can't wait until it's finished! It was one of the first set of construction drawings I ever completed... I wonder how the homeowners would feel if they new that.
I'm so glad it's Friday... I'm going to drink so much beer this weekend. It's supposed to be 80 degrees in Santa Monica tomorrow. I heart sunshine.

Venice Garden Tours 2008

This past weekend we went on the Venice Garden Tour. It was pretty fun. We got to see all different types of gardens and people's homes. It is easy to tell who has a Landscape Architect designed garden and who doesn't. It was also easy to tell that I have a ridiculously short attention span. I also realized that I know a lot of plant species. I guess that comes in handy once in a while.
We were also a docent for the AIA Home Tours in Beverly Hills. We were stationed at a home in the 90210. It was built in 1960 and was remodeled last year. The couple that had it remodeled got in a divorce half-way through the remodeling process and never moved in. The husband is now trying to sell the home for $5.1 Million.
