I walked alone

...until we met.

I listened to YACHT all the way home and rocked out the long way around the harbor.  Even though the water has been an awkward shade of reddish brown, it's still nice to stroll along the board walk.  I got home and made grilled brussel sprouts.

I like it when they put flags on top of cranes.  If you want me to be your father I will be your Dad.

End of the Week Activities

Our usual walk to work.
Lunch from the Gypsy Queen while watching the Healthy Harbor group launch the new wetlands into the harbor.  Swimmable & Fishable by 2020.
Volunteer Day planting a butterfly garden at a woman's recovery home/farm.  I'm so sore even my thumbs hurt to move them.  But it was totally worth it.  The program helps women in Baltimore who are victims of sex trafficking or drug addiction or prostitution or all of the above.  They keep them safe and get them sober and teach them to farm and cook and support themselves.
Reservations at a local restaurant that just opened about a month ago.  We drank rye whiskey cocktails with brandied cherries and ate grilled polenta with mushrooms and a 90 minute egg.  So good.  I didn't feel bad for stuffing my face since I worked up a sweat all day.   We went home and drank a bottle of peppery Petit Cab from a local winery and watched The Help on demand.
It's raining today, so we slept in late and made baked eggs with cauliflower and tomatoes for breakfast.
This afternoon is reserved for laundry and internet searches.  I want to learn how to make brandied cherries and a DIY cherry pitter.

Need a Ride?

I was walking home tonight when I heard somebody honking at me.  I looked over and it was a bus and the bus driver was honking at me to see if I wanted a ride.  I was just walking down the middle of the block, not at a bus stop, and he was driving really slow and waving at me.  Then he put his hand up to his ear like a phone.  I tried to ignore him but he was very persistent until finally the line of cars behind him started honking at him to go.  It must have been my popped collar...

Open Walls

On Friday night, D and I and a couple of coworkers went to Brewers Art for dinner and drinks and then wandered over to Station North to check out a 'graffiti art opening'.  On the way to the warehouse we saw a lady that had crashed into a parked car. It wasn't a bad crash but someone decided to call the paramedics for some reason.  When we got to the warehouse, we thought we would see a bunch of cool graffiti art and hear about how new murals were going up all over the city, instead we saw a bunch a crazy drag queens judging a 'Baltimore v Philly Dance Off'.  It was so crazy.  One of the judges was only wearing a thong and a pair of high-top chucks.  Later, I saw him making out with a large hairy biker dude.  We decided to call it a night, but not until after we saw a few more of the dance groups perform.  We caught a cab home from the train station and on the way home we saw a car on fire.  The flames were shooting out of the windows and the hood of the car.  The firemen had to put out the fire in the middle of the intersection.  I took pictures.
Yesterday, we went to the hardware store and Meyer's Seed Co. to get stuff for our garden.  And today we went to the Farmers Market to buy herbs and falafels and smoked goat cheese. Yum! I love being able to go to the market on the weekend.  And now there is a bus that goes there - so we don't have to walk by all the strip clubs like we did before.  I wish the markets could go all year.  I can't wait for our CSA to start in June.  We are going to have so much fresh (and local) food. This afternoon we planted the garden in our backyard.  I think I see stuff growing already.

Chain Hits My Chest

I got to the gym a half hour ago and realized I had an extra pair of pants, but no shoes.  Great.  So, now I'm home watching The Colbert Report on the couch, instead of watching it on the elliptical.  Last night, I got to ride the Water Taxi across the harbor.  I heart public transit.

Easter Weekend

On Saturday, we celebrated our friend Buck Young turning 30 by getting dressed up and touring every local dive bar in town.  We saw a wide range of 'dive' and ended the night with some much needed karaoke and kabobs.  The theme of the crawl was 'Bar Golf', but D and I didn't have any golf clothing, so we went as preppy spectators instead.
Sunday we made brunch and cupcakes with friends and chilled in the alley.

Whiskey Harbor

What if the harbor was made of Whiskey?
We got out of work early and went to Waterfront Kitchen and had whiskey cocktails on the patio.  Then we met up with 3/4 of the Bank Street kids and had more cocktails at another bar and pizza at a third bar.  Then it got too cold to hang out in the alley.
